From the very beginnings of the creation of life, women have had an integral part in aiding other women through their births and general health care. In early Bible times, midwives are mentioned and well noted to be the primary care givers for women. Even today in most cultures and countries midwives are "with women" during the most significant experiences of their lives:  childbirth.  Over 80 percent of the babies born in the world today are received into the caring, skillful hands of a midwife. And healthy babies are born to women who take excellent care of themselves through all stages of their lives.

The United States and Canada are the only countries in the world where midwives attend a small number of births or help with the growing needs of women in all stages of life.  However, in both countries, the number of midwife-attended births as well as general health care given by midwives is growing rapidly.  The World Health Organization and the International Childbirth Education Association recommend that healthy pregnant women seek out midwives as their maternity care providers. We also recommend they seek out trained midwives to help with the variety of feminine needs one faces throughout their life at all of its stages.

His Grace Herbals is owned and operated by Kristi Zittle, a retired, certified professional midwife. We serve women by educating them via childbirth education classes, phone and email counsel regarding birth choices, counseling on nutritional supplementation and herbals and will help you to find the care provider that best will meet your needs.  Although we do not personally offer midwifery care any longer, it is our goal to help you find the provider that will mesh best with your personal style and desires. We occasionally will also provide labor support for those women needing or choosing a hospital birth and will attend a few of your prenatal appointments as well to get to know your care provider.
